Overview:

The fastener feeder is a custom high-capacity vertical tube feeder. The feeder uses a bank of four identical escapement lanes, and a six-row servo-driven tray to provide a feeding capacity of approximately 250 fasteners per load.  The fastener feeder is suitable for blow fed systems, where many feeders must supply to one device through a tube.

Process Description:

Parts are pre-loaded into tubes that are loaded into the servo-driven tray. At the start of operation, a row of four tubes is positioned over the escapement mechanisms. When a fastener is needed, the first escapement is cycled until a fastener is found, and fed, or the tube is determined to be empty. If the tube is empty, the cycle is repeated at the next tube. If all the tubes of a row are depleted, the feeder moves to the next row.
